AHI Commemorates Greek Independence Day at Events Held Nationwide

WASHINGTON, DC - American Hellenic Institute (AHI) representatives participated at several events held to commemorate the 203rd anniversary of Greek Independence during March and April 2024.

AHI celebrated Greek Independence Day at the White House on April 4, 2024. President Nick Larigakis, AHI Foundation Board Chairman Leon Andris, and AHI Board Members Demitrios Halakos and Ted Argeroplos, attended the ceremony officiated by President Joe Biden and His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America.

President Biden issued a proclamation to commemorate Greek Independence Day in the United States.

AHI Sponsors Float, President Larigakis Serves as an Honorary Grand Marshal in Philadelphia

President Nick Larigakis served as one of several Honorary Grand Marshals at the annual Greek Independence Day Parade in Philadelphia, April 7, 2024. In addition, AHI sponsored a float for the first time. AHI Foundation Board Chairman Leon Andris, who served as an Honorary Guest, AHI Board Member Demetrios Halakos, and several AHI members and supporters from the Philadelphia tri-state area, participated as riders on the float.

“I sincerely thank the organizing committee for honoring me as one of the Grand Marshals of the city’s annual Greek Independence Day Parade,” Larigakis said. “It was a tremendous honor, and we are so proud to have sponsored a float. Congratulations to AHI Board Member John Vasilou, who served as the parade’s co-chair and who did an exceptional job in helping to organize the parade.”

President Larigakis also attended the Federation of Hellenic American Societies of Philadelphia and Greater Delaware Valley's Eleftheria Banquet where he sat at the dais as one of the Honorary Grand Marshals and offered greetings to the audience.

 
 

Baltimore

President Larigakis marched as an Honorary Guest in Baltimore’s Greek Independence Day Parade on March 25, 2024.

“My sincere thanks to the organizing committee for the opportunity to participate, once again, in the historic parade that showcases Baltimore’s vibrant Greek American community,” Larigakis said.
