AHI Unveils 50th Anniversary Commemorative Video

No. 45

WASHINGTON, DC - The American Hellenic Institute unveiled a commemorate video to mark the 50th anniversary of the Institute’s founding at the AHI 50th Anniversary Hellenic Heritage Achievement and National Public Service Awards Dinner held at The Capital Hilton, Washington, D.C., April 13, 2024.

“We are proud to share this video with our community as it captures the essence of our history and meaningful work as advocates for the rule of law,” President Nick Larigakis said.

Through moving accounts and interviews, “AHI at 50” is a 15-minute video that details AHI’s half century of advocating for the rule of law to the highest powers of U.S. government.  It features AHI’s advocates and the Greek American community’s policy champions with whom the Institute worked to effect change in Washington.

Veteran broadcasting and media production professional Larry Michael, who is a longstanding AHI member and supporter, and Larigakis, served as executive producers of the video project, which was two years in making. George Stephanopoulos, anchor of “Good Morning America” and “This Week with George Stephanopoulos” narrated the video.

President Larigakis said:

"We express our heartfelt gratitude to Larry Michael for his invaluable contribution as executive producer of the 'AHI at 50' video project. His dedication, expertise, and support have been instrumental in bringing this vision to life, allowing us to showcase the Institute's journey and impact over the past half-century.

“We also sincerely thank George Stephanopoulos for graciously lending his time and his talent, which contributed to the video’s successful production.

“Although we are extremely proud to reach our golden anniversary and what that means for all those, past and present, who gave selflessly to the Institute, we also realize the anniversary of our founding is a bittersweet one. We will not stop until the rule of law is applied to Greece, Cyprus, and the Ecumenical Patriarchate.”

The American Hellenic Institute is an independent non-profit Greek American public policy center and think tank that works to strengthen relations between the United States and Greece and Cyprus, and within the Greek American community.
